I just love activities where both kids and pets are involved. One such wonderful activity is being held at the Humane Society of Missouri with the sole purpose of making shelter dogs more adoptable and, at the same time, improving children’s reading skills.
So, once a month kids sit in front of the dog kennels, reading short stories to the dogs. This makes the pups being more relaxed around people and the kids become more confident in their reading skills. It has been proven that such dogs are more adoptable because they get used to being close to people and interact with them. This is a perfect win-win situation for both sides.
