After struggling with glaucoma for two years, the Akita named Kiaya had her both eyes removed. Unfortunately, this was the best way to relieve her from the pain and pressure she was suffering from.
The main problem after the surgery was what to do with the dog who can’t see. Blind people have guide dogs to make their life easier, but what should you do when your dog gets blind?
Luckily, what seemed like a huge problem got solved quickly with the unexpected help from Kiaya’s “brothers” – Keller and Cass. These two amazing dogs became Kaya’s eyes. They guide Kiaya to her bowl when it’s time to eat or they walk right next to her during walks to protect her from bumping into something.
This story reminded me of why I love dogs so much! Thank you, Keller and Cass!
